Objectives:

  1. Classify Ayurvedic medicine
  2. Differentiate the possible nephrotoxic mechanisms of Ayurvedic medicine
  3. Express the source and toxic mechanisms of aristolochic acid
  4. Outline overview of epidemiologic studies on the association between aristolochic acid-containing Chinese herbs and chronic kidney disease (CKD)
  5. Discuss potential nephrotoxic as well as nephroprotective effects of non-aristolochic acid containing Chinese herbsacid containing Chinese herbs
  6. Identify features of exposure to lead in traditional medicine during the outbreak of lead poisoning in Vietnam
  7. Describe clinical and laboratory features of lead poisoning due to ingestion of lead containing traditional medicine
  8. Summarize preliminary data and experiences in the treatment of lead poisoning in limited conditions of Vietnam.
