Description

Objectives:

  1. Review classic approaches in the pharmacologic management of agitated delirium
  2. Apply newer approaches for the pharmacologic management of agitated delirium
  3. Discuss a rational patient centered approach to the pharmacologic management of agitated delirium
  4. Distinguish issues surrounding chronic medication use in incarcerated patients
  5. Contrast drug withdrawal, access to medication in prison and continuation of medication upon release from prison
  6. Describe some important historical poisoning outbreaks associated with the prison population
  7. Associate methods of self harm unique to the prison population
  8. Describe unique environmental conditions in prisons (such excess heat) that pose unique risks to medicated patients
  9. Identify features of malicious child poisoning/Munchausen syndrome by proxy
  10. Visualize the role of the medical toxicologist in the drug-endangered child or malicious child poisoning
  11. Review the medical and ethical controversies management of "body stuffers"
  12. Discuss the current evidence in support of treatment guidelines for "body stuffers"
  13. Formulate a clinical plan of care for a "body stuffers"
  14. Discuss the role of imaging in the management of “body stuffers”
